EPON System Solution
The Gigabit Ethernet Passive Optical Network(GEPON) system is composed of the Optical Line Terminal (OLT), Optical Distribution Network (ODN) and Optical Network Unit (ONU).
Normally OLT is located in the service provider’s central office or head end. The OLT is connected to a network side of a PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network) as well as IP (Internet Protocol) sources for video and data traffic. On the subscriber side, the OLT connects to ONU that located at the subscribers’ premises via ODN (include WDM and PLC splitters). The OLT and ONU are connected by a passive optical network architecture that requires no active components between a central office and a subscriber, minimizing costs for power, climate control and maintenance
